  • In Bihar, a national summit on technical textiles and Viksit Bharat was held at Patna to discuss the contribution and role of technical textiles in the growth of India.

  • The event organised at Gyan Bhawan in Patna.

  • The role of synthetic fibres in different sectors was discussed.

India’s First Removable Solar Panel Project

  • Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW) has rolled out India’s first Removable Solar Panel in a pilot project at its premises in Varanasi.

  • The move is part of Indian Railways’ move towards a more sustainable and greener transportation system. The 70-metre pilot project features 28 solar panels generating up to 15 KWs of electricity.

INS Kadmatt

  • Indian Naval Ship Kadmatt has successfully completed a three-day port call at Surabaya in Indonesia.

  • The port call reinforces long-standing maritime partnership between India and Indonesia under the shared vision of Partnership Across Sea.

  • The participation of indigenously built Anti-Submarine Warfare Corvette reaffirms Navy’s role as the preferred security partner in the region. 

  • It is second of four anti-submarine warfare corvettes built for the Indian Navy by the Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers, of Kolkata.

Integrated Air Defence Weapon System

  • DRDO has successfully conducted the maiden flight Tests of the Integrated Air Defence Weapon System- IADWS, off the coast of Odisha.

  • IADWS is a multi-layered air defence system comprising all indigenous Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile (QRSAM), Advanced Very Short-Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) missiles and a high-power laser-based Directed Energy Weapon (DEW).

  • The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has launched its first all-women commando unit to boost gender parity. Training is underway at the Regional Training Centre in Barwaha, Madhya Pradesh.

  • 30 women personnel are undergoing an 8-week advanced course at the Centre.

  • These commandos will be deployed in Quick Reaction Teams and Special Task Forces at high-security sites. At least 100 women from Aviation Security Groups and sensitive units will be trained in the first phase.

  • CISF aims to make this a regular part of its training and reach 10% women representation. Currently, women make up 8% of the force.

2025 World Youth Archery Championships

  • India’s Sharvari Somnath Shende won the U18 women’s individual recurve gold medal at the 2025 World Youth Archery Championships in Winnipeg, Canada after defeating South Korea’s Kim Yewon.

  • India’s Chikitha Taniparthi has created history by becoming the first Indian female compound archer to secure the Individual Junior World title at the World Youth Championships in Canada. She defeated Korea’s Yerin Park in the compound Under 21 women’s gold medal match.

  • Indian compound men’s U-21 team clinched their first-ever Junior World title at the 2025 World Archery Youth Championships.

  • The Indian trio of Kushal Dalal, Mihir Apar, and Ganesh Mani Ratnam defeated Germany in a shootoff.

  • The compound men’s U18 team of Mohit Dagar, Yogesh Joshi, and Devansh Singh also became the Cadet World Champions after defeating the USA in finals.

Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar wins gold

  • Indian Shooter Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar has won gold medal in the 50-meter rifle three-position event at the 16th Asian Shooting Championship in Shymkent, Kazakhstan.

  • China’s Wenyu Zhao won silver, while Japan’s Naoya Okada claimed bronze.

  • Indian men’s team of Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Chain Singh and Akhil Sheoran bagged silver medal in the 50-metre rifle three positions team event. 

  • India claimed all three gold medals in the mixed air rifle categories at the 16th Asian Shooting Championship in Shymkent, Kazakhstan.

  • Indian shooters excelled in the Senior, Junior, and Youth mixed team events, contributing to India’s top position on the medal tally.

  • India is leading the medal tally with a total of 41 medals, including 23 Gold, 8 Silver and 10 Bronze medals.

  • Northeast United FC has retained the Durand Cup trophy.

  • The Durand Cup is an annual football competition in India which was first held in 1888 in Annadale, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.

Khelo India Water Sports

  • In Jammu & Kashmir, the three day “Khelo India Water Sports Festival”, at the iconic Dal Lake, Shri Nagar.

  • Madhya Pradesh finished as a topper by winning 18 medals, including 10 gold medals and won the team championship to finish on top of the medal tally in the first Khelo India Water Sports Festival.

  • Gold- 10, Silver-3 and Bronze- 5

  • Odisha Secured 2nd rank at medal podium followed by Kerala and Uttar Pradesh.

International Kite Festival 2025

  • Colombo, the city hosted the International Kite Festival 2025, Sri Lanka.

  • The event, organised by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau with Derana Media Network, saw 55 international kite flyers from 25 countries.

  • Colombo kite festival has evolved into an international attraction under the Colombo Destination Branding Project.

  • Kilauea Volcano located on Hawaii Island has recently gained widespread attention due to dramatic lava fountain eruptions.

  • Kilauea’s reputation as one of the most active volcanoes in the world.

  • Kilauea’s eruptions have been occurring in the Halemaumau Crater which is part of the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
