Kharif Sowing Area Rises by 27 Lakh Hectares

Total kharif crop area has increased by 27 lakh hectares, reaching over 1105 lakh hectares this year.
-
Rice cultivation grew by over 19 lakh hectares, now covering more than 438 lakh hectares (compared to 418 lakh hectares last year).

Pulse cultivation increased from 114 lakh hectares to over 116 lakh hectares.
-
Coarse cereals were sown on 191 lakh hectares.

Oilseeds were sown on around 187 lakh hectares.

CAFA Nations Cup 2025

In Football, India defeated Oman to finish third in the CAFA Nations Cup 2025 at Hisor Central Stadium in Tajikistan to win the bronze medal. This was the first time ever that India defeated Oman in an international football match.

Uzbekistan clinched the cup whereas Iran is runner up.

The CAFA (Central Asian Football Association) Nations Cup 2025 is co-hosted by Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
Asia Cup 2025

The 17th edition of the Asia Cup is set to kick off in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The opening match will feature Afghanistan taking on Hong Kong.

First held in 1984, the Asia Cup is contested in either the One Day International (ODI) or Twenty20 International (T20I) format.

India is the most successful team in the tournament’s history, having claimed the title of ODI seven times — in 1984, 1988, 1990, 1995, 2010,2018 and 2023.

This will be the third time the tournament is held in the T20 format. India won the inaugural T20 Asia Cup in 2016, while Sri Lanka clinched the title in the last edition held in 2022.
