India Clinches 2025 SAFF U17 Women’s Championship Title

  • In Football, India have clinched the 2025 SAFF Under-17 Women’s Championship title, overpowering Nepal 5-0 at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu, Bhutan.

Thailand PM Paetongtarn Shinawatra Dismissed by Court

  • Thailand’s Constitutional Court dismissed Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra from office for an ethics violation after only a year in power. 

  • Ms Paetongtarn, who was Thailand’s youngest prime minister, becomes the sixth premier from or backed by the Shinawatra family to be removed by the military or judiciary in a two-decade battle for power between the country’s warring elites.

  • Paetongtarn violated ethics in a leaked June telephone call. During the call, she appeared to kowtow to Cambodia’s former leader Hun Sen when both countries were on the brink of an armed border conflict.

  • The court said, Paetongtarn had put her private interests before those of the nation and damaged the reputation of the country.

Mahout Villages

  • The Tamil Nadu Forest Department has established a second dedicated ‘Mahout Village’ at Kozhikamuthi elephant camp in the Anamalai Tiger Reserve (ATR).

  • Mahout Villages are residential settlements designed specifically for elephant handlers and their staff. The inaugural village was launched in May 2025 at Theppakadu Elephant Camp, Mudumalai Tiger Reserve.

  • China is hosting the SCO Summit for the fifth time, with President Xi Jinping chairing the proceedings.

  • The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is a political, economic, and security alliance that brings together countries from across Asia and beyond.
