67th Ramon Magsaysay Award 2025

  • Organisation: Foundation to Educate Girls Globally (an Indian non-profit).

  • Mission: Mobilises community and government resources to support girls’ education.

  • Focus Area: Works in rural and educationally disadvantaged areas of India.

  • Recognition: Named a 2025 Ramon Magsaysay Awardee.

  • Announcement: Made by the Ramon Magsaysay Foundation.

  • Educate Girls, the foundation is the first Indian organisation to receive the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award, often referred to as Asia’s equivalent of the Nobel Prize.

  • The Foundation, started in Rajasthan, was founded in 2007 by Safeena Husain.

  • Other 2025 winners include Shaahina Ali from the Maldives for her environmental work and Flaviano Antonio L. Villanueva from the Philippines.

IMC 25 application

  • Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia launched the India Mobile Congress- IMC 25 application in New Delhi.

  • The ninth edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025 is scheduled to be held from the 8th to the 11th of October month at Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in New Delhi. The theme for IMC 25 is ‘Innovate to Transform’.

  • About App: AI-based suggestions, improved networking, and interactive elements, the app aims to enhance users’ experience at the Expo. It will assist users in connecting, exploring, and participating in the exhibition.

India to Send First-Ever National Team to Pickleball World Cup

  • For the first time, India will send an official national pickleball contingent to the Pickleball World Cup, scheduled to take place in Florida, USA.

  • The Indian Pickleball Association (IPA), the recognised National Sports Federation for Pickleball under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, officially concluded its landmark two-day selection trials at the IPA Centre of Excellence in Ahmedabad.

  • Selections were made in three categories: Open, Under-16, and 50+.

Afghanistan earthquake

  • An earthquake of 6 magnitude that struck Afghanistan’s Kunar province near the city of Jalalabad.

  • Epicenter: Located in the Kuz Kunar District, Nangarhar Province, near the border with Kunar Province, approximately 27 km east-northeast of Jalalabad and close to Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

  • Fatalities: More than 800 people were killed and over 2500 were injured
