UPI Raises Daily P2M Payment Limit to Rs 10 Lakh

  • Unified Payments Interface (UPI) users can now make Person-to-Merchant (P2M) transactions of up to 10 lakh rupees within 24 hours, with verified merchant for specified categories.

  • The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has raised the single transaction limit for P2M transactions to 5 lakh rupees in specified categories.

  • The limit for Person-to-Person (P2P) transfers remains unchanged at 1 lakh rupees per day. For investments in capital markets and insurance.

  • The per-transaction limit has been increased from 2 lakh rupees to 5 lakh rupees, with a maximum of 10 lakh rupees per day.

India’s First Bamboo-Based Bio-Ethanol Plant

  • India’s first bamboo-based bio-refinery was inaugurated in Golaghat district, Assam by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

  • The bio-refinery will produce bioethanol, supporting India's mission of becoming Atmanirbhar (self-reliant) in the energy sector.

  • PM Modi also laid the foundation stone for a polypropylene unit at the refinery site.

  • The PM virtually launched a new bridge over the Brahmaputra River, connecting Narengi (Guwahati) and Kuruwa (Darrang).

  • India has emerged as the world's third largest biofuel producer and 5th largest Solar Energy producer.

‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar’ Campaign

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan, on 17 September a 16-day nationwide health camp.

  • The campaign is being launched along with the 8th Poshan Maah (Nutrition Month).

  • Over 1 lakh health camps will be organized, making it the largest health outreach for women and children in India.

The initiative is led by:

  • Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW)

  • Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD)

The campaign will run till the 2nd of October month.

It will include health check-ups and screenings for diseases like:

  • Cancers

  • Anaemia

  • Tuberculosis

  • Sickle Cell Disease

The program will also promote:

  • Obesity prevention

  • Improved nutrition

  • Voluntary blood donation

PM Modi Pays Tribute to Bhupen Hazarika

  • PM Narendra Modi paid tribute to Bhupen Hazarika at his centenary celebration in Guwahati.

  • PM Modi described Hazarika as a symbol of unity and national integration.

  • A ₹100 commemorative coin was unveiled, and a biography of Bhupen Hazarika was released in 21 languages.

Sabita Bhandari Becomes First Woman Attorney General of Nepal

  • Senior Advocate Sabita Bhandari has been appointed as the new Attorney General. She is the first woman to be appointed the Attorney General of the Himalayan Nation.

Anandkumar Velkumar wins India’s first-ever senior medal

  • Anandkumar Velkumar won India’s first-ever senior medal at the Speed Skating World Championships, Beidaihe, China – a bronze in the 500m+ D sprint.

  • He also won a bronze in the 1000m sprint at the World Games in Chengdu, China, another first for India.

  • Velkumar first gained recognition in 2021 by winning a silver at the Junior World Championships.

Women’s Hockey Asia Cup

  • In the Women’s Hockey Asia Cup championship, India finished as runners-up after a 1-4 defeat to China. In the final at Hangzhou, China.

  • Navneet Kaur was the lone scorer for India.

  • China gets a direct qualification for the 2026 FIH Women’s Hockey World Cup, to be held in Belgium and the Netherlands.

First Indian High Jumper to Reach World Championships Final

  • Sarvesh Kushare becomes the first Indian high jumper to reach the finals at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.

  • He cleared the mark of 2.25m to finish in the top 12 of the men’s high jump qualification round.

World Boxing Championships 2025

  • Minakshi Hooda and Jaismine Lamboria clinched gold medals at the World Boxing Championships 2025.

  • Meenakshi Hooda defeated Nazym Kyzaibay in the 48 kg category and Jaismine Lamboria outclassed Paris Olympics silver medallist Julia Szeremeta of Poland in the 57kg final clash.  

  • The championship held at Liverpool in England; India ended with four medals (2G, 1S, 1B).

SAMBHAV

  • India has made leap in defence technology with the deployment of SAMBHAV, its first fully indigenous secure mobile communication system.

  • The Indian Army used SAMBHAV-enabled smartphones instead of foreign apps, ensuring secure and encrypted communication free from external surveillance.

  • SAMBHAV, launched in 2023, is India’s first secure mobile communication platform for defence use.

  • It works independently of commercial networks and supports real-time communication on 5G-enabled devices.

  • The system uses multi-layer encryption to protect against cyber-attacks and surveillance. Its main app, M-Sigma, allows secure messaging, file sharing, and multimedia exchange.

  • SAMBHAV is network-agnostic, meaning it can work securely on any communication network without risking data safety.
