Government Approves ₹4,594 Crore for Four New Semiconductor Projects in Odisha, Punjab, and Andhra Pradesh

The government has approved four new semiconductor projects in Odisha, Punjab and Andhra Pradesh with an estimated cost of four thousand 594 crore rupees. Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, the government is building a robust ecosystem for semiconductor and electronics sector.

He said electronics manufacturing has witnessed rapid strides in the last 11 years with six times growth and exports have increased by eight times.

He said, numbers of mobile manufacturing units have reached over 300 from 2 in the last 11 years, mobile phone exports have increased by 127 times by reaching two lakh crore rupees.

He announced that Semicon India 2025 will be organized in New Delhi, Malaysia, Japan, Singapore, and South Korea will participate in the Semicon India as partners.

The government has given its nod for the Tato-II hydroelectric project with the capacity of 700 megawatts. The project will be built in Shi Yomi district of Arunachal Pradesh

SVAMITVA scheme

The SVAMITVA (Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas) Scheme is a central government initiative launched on April 24, 2020, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Aim: To provide legal ownership rights to rural households by mapping residential properties using drone technology and issuing property cards.

Government of India initiative or project aimed at tackling Sickle Cell Anaemia in India, especially in tribal and vulnerable populations.
About Sickle Cell Anaemia in India

Sickle Cell Anaemia is a genetic blood disorder causing abnormal hemoglobin.

It mainly affects tribal communities and some rural populations in India.
-
It leads to chronic anemia, pain crises, organ damage, and increased mortality if untreated.
NSCAEM is likely a special initiative by the Indian Government to eliminate or control Sickle Cell Anaemia in vulnerable populations.

It involves screening, treatment, awareness, and genetic counseling. It aligns with India’s public health goals to reduce the burden of genetic disorders.

It was officially launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 1, 2023, in Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh.

This mission aims to eliminate sickle cell disease as a public health problem in India by 2047.

The Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) in Telangana has recently been subjected to intense scrutiny. Various structural deficiencies and administrative choices have raised questions about its implementation and management. A judicial probe has been set up to investigate the charges. Initially celebrated as a lifeline project for Telangana.

Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project is a large-scale multi-stage irrigation project on the Godavari River in Kaleshwaram, Bhupalpally district, Telangana. Originally, the project’s barrage was planned at Tummidihatti. Despite receiving hydrological clearance, the site was shifted to Medigadda citing water unavailability.
