Bilateral talks with Mauritian Prime Minister in Varanasi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral talks with Mauritian Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam in Varanasi.

IT Madras and the Indian Institute of Plantation Management have signed agreements with the University of Mauritius.

Four MoUs in the field of science & technology, Oceanography, administrative training & telemetry were exchanged between the two countries.

Three more documents, namely in the power sector, Indian grant assistance for small development projects & hydrography, were also exchanged.

India and ADB Sign $126 Million Loan Agreement

India and the Asian Development Bank have signed over 126-million-dollar loan agreement to promote sustainable tourism in Uttarakhand.
-
The project targets the Tehri Garhwal District, one of Uttarakhand’s most climate-vulnerable and economically disadvantaged regions. It aims to benefit over 87 thousand residents and 2.7 million annual visitors through improved tourism planning, upgraded infrastructure, enhanced sanitation and waste management, and disaster preparedness.

India Launches Indigenous Multi-Stage Malaria Vaccine

India’s first multi-stage malaria vaccine has been developed by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

The government has granted licenses to several pharmaceutical companies for its manufacture and commercialisation.
-
This marks a significant milestone in India's efforts toward malaria prevention and control.

The vaccine targets the malaria parasite before it enters the bloodstream. It offers a stable, affordable, and scalable solution effective for over nine months at room temperature.

The vaccine is named AdFalciVax.
-
It is a recombinant multi-stage vaccine that targets Plasmodium falciparum, the deadliest malaria parasite.
-
The ICMR invited qualified companies for ‘Transfer of Technology’ to help with large-scale production and commercial use.

The ICMR-Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC), Bhubaneswar led the development of this vaccine.
-
The vaccine was developed using Lactococcus lactis, a safe bacteria used as the production platform.
